Ensure safety of women employees, says MP Labour Commissioner

Madhya Pradesh State Labour Commissioner K C Gupta issued directives here today that infotech companies in the state would have to ensure the safety of women employees during 9 pm to 7 am night shifts, official sources said.
According to the directives, infotech companies operating night shifts would have to deploy a minimum of ten women during these shifts.
Companies would have to arrange secure transport facilities for women employees from their residences to office and back, as well as appoint two women wardens and provide separate canteen facilites during the night shift.
Directives also clearly stated that it is the duty of companies to ensure prevention of sexual harrassment of women at the work place.
They were also asked to initiate legal action whenever complaints of sexual harrassment were received.
