The envoys who presented their credentials were Sir Dominic Asquith, KCMG, High Commissioner of Britain; Harinder Kaur Sidhu, High Commissioner of Australia; Fakhri Hassan Mahdi Al-Issa, Ambassador of Iraq; and Igor Polikha, Ukraine's Ambassador, a press release issued by Rashtrapati Bhavan said.
Starting as a freelance journalist in Amman in the early 1980s, Sir Asquith joined the British diplomatic service in 1983. His 30-year career (he retired from the service in 2013) was largely spent in the Middle East where he held ambassadorial positions in Iraq (2006-07), Egypt (2007-2011) and Libya (2011-2012). He survived a rocket-propelled grenade attack on his convoy in June 2012 in Benghazi, Libya.
Sidhu has previously served overseas in Moscow and Damascus.
