EOW detects Rs 4.86 cr disproportionate assets of Jr Engineer

The anti-corruption unit of Bihar Police has detected documents of disproportionate assets to the tune of Rs 4.86 crore allegedly belonging to a Junior Engineer of a state government undertaking, an officer said today.
Acting on a tip-off, the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) carried out search at Sunil Kumar's six premises in Patna and Gaya during which they detected papers of 10 plots in the name of his wife Lalita Devi in and around the state capital and Bodh Gaya worth Rs 4.33 crore on the basis of deed value, Additional Director General of Police (ADG), Headquarters, Ravindra Kumar told reporters here.
The EOW seized additional documents of movable wealth of the Junior Engineer worth Rs 53.09 lakh comprising Rs 8.25 lakh deposits in banks in the name of his wife and parents, Rs 28.98 lakh investment in LIC, besides jewelleries, household appliances and vehicles, he said.
In addition, the sleuths also seized papers according to which Kumar has a hotel at Bodh Gaya, the cost of its construction and interior decoration was being assessed, the ADG (Headquarters) said, adding it has also come to light that the Junior Engineer owned a company called M/s Deepshree Properties Private Ltd in which the details of his investment was under investigation.
Kumar also reportedly owns a flat in an apartment in Danapur on the outskirts of the state capital, which was being verified, the police officer said, adding a case has been registered under relevant provisions of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against the Junior Engineer, who is employed with the Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam.
