'ESIC will give medical facilities to un-organised sector

The Employees' State Insurance Corporation will provide all medical facilities to workers in both the organised sector as well as the un-organised sector, Bandaru Dattatreya, Minister of State (independent charge) for Labour and Employment, said today.
He was speaking after laying the foundation stone of ESIC Nagar in suburban Andheri here. He later inaugurated a 300- bed ESI Hospital in suburban Kandivali.
Dattatreya spoke about reforms undertaken by ESIC recently like Abhiyan Indradhanush for ensuring daily change of bedsheets in its hospitals, medical helpline 1800 11 3839, a special OPD for senior citizens and differently-abled persons and online access to health records.
The union minister also announced construction of a 200-bed ESIC Hospital at Butibori, Nagpur and requested Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who was the chief guest at the function, to provide five acres of land.
Fadnavis, in his speech, thanked Dattatreya for starting super-speciality hospital in Kandivali and also assured land for the hospital at Butibori in Nagpur.
The Chief Minister also said that daily bedsheet change rule could be implemented in the state-run hospitals.
The ESIC Nagar will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 350 crore. The Kandivali Hospital is a multi-specialty hospital, built at a cost of Rs 190 crore.
