EU to launch project to help people in remote areas of Odisha

The European Union (EU) in collaboration with an NGO would implement a project to enable people in remote and inaccessible areas of Odisha to have access to different schemes launched by the government.
The project would be implemented in 100 gram panchayats spread over ten districts of Odisha, representative of EU in Odisha Atul Nayak and director of NGO Agragamee, Achyut Das told a seminar here.
Under the project, government officials and public representatives would voluntarily share information relating to various schemes as per the RTI Act Section 4(1)B, they said.
The objective of the project is to improve the quality of life of poor local community staying in inaccessible tribal pockets and create awareness among them regarding various information and access to government programmes in at least five government schemes.
The five schemes related to health, nutrition, education, the NREGA and e-governance, they said.
Rayagada district Collector Sashi Bhushan Padhy said that the administration was initiating measures to provide education and sanitation facility to girl children by constructing schools and hostels.
Besides, efforts were being made to improve the standard of life of the tribal Jharia community inhabiting Kashipur block in the district, he said.
