According to police, SP Sharma had given a loan of Rs 10,000 to the woman, a mother of two, last year and had allegedly molested her on different occasions when she failed to return the money.
Police said that 40-year-old woman lives with her family in Ghaziabad and the accused also has residence on the same street.
"Sharma molested the woman after she failed to return the loan to him. The woman told the police that she paid back his money, but he continued to molest her on several occasions," said Hardayal Yadav, station house officer, Vijay Nagar police station.
"On Thursday, the accused went to victim's house and allegedly molested her again. Thereafter, the woman told her husband about the incident and later registered complaint against him. Police have sent him to jail," the SHO added.
The woman alleged in her complaint that whenever she went to the market, Sharma would make lewd comments and molested her in her house several times when her husband was out for work.
