Ex-bureaucrat Ravi Kant named administrative staff college DG

Former IAS officer Ravi Kant has been appointed the new Director General of city-based Administrative Staff College of India (ASCI).
Kant's appointment has been approved by ASCI's 'Court of Governors' and is effective from March 1. He succeeded S K Rao, a release said here today.
Kant is a civil engineer from IIT, Roorkee and has a masters degree in economics from University of Manchester, UK. An IAS Officer of 1985 batch, he took voluntary retirement in 2006 and joined Ramky Enviro Engineers Ltd as Managing Director.
ASCI was established in 1956 on the lines of the Administrative Staff College at Henley-on-Thames in England. It is an independent, autonomous and self supporting public- purpose institution, the release added.
