A Central Crime Station team led by inspector GR Srinivas nabbed Neduri Veeraju alias Mental Basha (46) when he was trying to run away.
Police recovered gold jewellery weighing 115 grams, worth over Rs 2.5 lakh, and a Bajaj Pulsar bike from his house in Dondaparthi area in the city.
During the interrogation, Veeraju told police that he had committed seven house burglaries under various police stations limits in the city and has stolen 160 gms of gold ornaments and the bike.
ADCP (crime) SV Raju said Veeraju was previously involved in over 50 cases of house break-ins in Vizag city and Vizianagaram district and had spent over seven years in prison before he was released on November 12, 2014.
