Vasava, who lost the 2012 Assembly election to the BJP candidate, was welcomed in the party fold by state BJP General Secretary Bharatsinh Parmar in the presence of state unit vice-president I K Jadeja and other leaders at the party headquarters in Gandhinagar.
Vasava had represented Nizar seat in Tapi district for three consecutive terms on Congress ticket.
"Vasava has joined BJP to spread the developmental work initiated by the Gujarat government in tribal belts," Jadeja said in a release.
Vasava said that he got inspired by the 'Vanbandhu Yojna' launched by the state government for tribal people and wants to carry on the developmental work in his area for tribals.
