Additional District and Sessions Judge (ADJ)-I Md Irshad passed the order sentencing Haque after finding him guilty under various sections of IPC for assaulting Md Safi Ansari after he had joined the fray for Badi Madarsa secretary's post in 2009 for which he was an aspirant too.
The judge, however, granted bail to Haque to file his appeal against the conviction.
The court also acquitted Haque's son Md Amjad and two others of the same charges for lack of evidence against them.
Haque was elected to Lok Sabha from Sheohar seat in 2000.
He has also been associated with Congress, BJP and BSP.
