Ex-serviceman succumbs to injuries

An ex-serviceman, injured in a militant attack last week, succumbed to injuries at a hospital here in Jammu and Kashmir, police said today.
Nazir Ahmad Peer, a resident of Maidanpora village of Lolab in Kupwara district, was shot at by unidentified militants at Kak Sarai area of Srinagar on July 31 and was undergoing treatment at SMHS hospital, a police spokesman said.
He said Peer who had joined SMHS hospital as a private security guard after his retirement from BSF and was in his fifties, breathed his last yesterday.
The body of the deceased has been handed over to his relatives for the last rites, the spokesman said.
