Exhibition depicts man's ancient relation with tigers

Highlighting how tigers have been an integral part of our lives since history, the Indian Museum has put up an exhibition on the big cats.
Open till August 7, the exhibition 'The Tiger: Timeless Treasures from Indian Museum' showcases the museum's collection items with tigers depicted on them.
It includes a number of stones representing some animal figures which are documented as 'Sardula', a term applicable for both tigers and lions.
Toys and masks from Odisha and West Bengal are also exhibited here to demonstrate the socio-religious context of tiger in everyday life.
It also includes photographs of tigers including that of an ancient coin belonging to the Gupta period featuring a tiger slayer.
