Exhibition of artworks by specially-abled opens

'Art Trisomy21', atwo-day exhibition featuring works of specially-abled young adults suffering fromDown's Syndrome and other disorders was today inauguratedhere.
Theexhibition which was inaugurated byAmruta Fadnavis, wife of Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, is being held between September 21and 22atCoomarswamiHall, Chhatrapati Shivaji MaharajVastu Sangrahalaya in South Mumbai.
The event marks thecompletion of 25 years of Om Creations Trust, the organiser of the event.
The event has beenconceptualised toshowcase the transformation art can bring in the lives of specially- abled individuals.
Over 200 paintings and artifacts are on exhibit.
"I am privileged to be part of this special exhibition. The artworks presented are truly amazing and no less than professional work. We need to support these special children and get them to mainstream and provide dignity," said Amruta.
The proceeds of the exhibition will go toward setting upOmAbode, India'sfirstCommunity living space andresearch centre for thespecially-abledsituatedat Khandpe, Karjat on a 12.5-acre site.
It will be a community living facility and a multi- functional social innovation institute that will house skilldevelopmentcentres,spaces for vocationalworkshops, a researchcentre, library, medical centre, recreational facilitiesandlivingquartersfor thedifferently-abled residents, FounderTrustee,OmCreationsTrust Radhike Khanna said.
The event also saw renowned artist Anuradha Thakur creating a live painting as part of the inaugural ceremony.
"The creative avenues of expression that these young artists have explored to project their feelings on canvas are unique and truly fascinating," Thakur said.
Neha Pradhan, a young artist with Down's Syndrome said, "Drawing makes me feel special and playing with colors is fun. I like to paint my thoughts on canvas as it helps me better express myself.
The signing of several strategic accords, meetings of the
official delegation of the Minpromtorg with the representatives of the Italian Union of leather manufacturers and presentation by the Innovation Scientific-Producing Centre of Textile and Light Industry on 'Technical regulation for leather industry companies' are also planned to be held during the exhibition.
The Russian stand at Lineapelle 2016 will be open until September 22nd, 2016. Denis Pak, Director of the Internal trade, light industry and consumer market department said: "Participation of the Russian manufacturers in the exhibition shows very good results, in terms of international marketing promotion, so for the second year in a row the Ministry of Industry and Trade organizes collective exposition and business program. We plan to extend a similar experience to other sub-sectors of light industry."
