Kalamkari kurtas, Ajrakh and block print dresses and handcrafted jewellery are among the many exhibits on display at an ongoing exhibition-cum-sale here.

'Wearable Art' organised by Central Cottage Industries Corporation of India (CCIC), features a collection of contemporary women wear inspired by the country's rich handloom traditions.

Among the exhibits at the show underway at Jawahar Vyapar Bhavan here, are ensembles by veteran designer Archana Kumar.

"My work is inspired by Indian weaves and handloom. The dresses in this show have a fusion touch -- with embroidery and weaves using ethnic solid colours," Kumar said.

The initiative aims to promote Indian crafts and the spirit of craftsmanship.

"The exhibition not only encourages the craftpersons to showcase their creations, but also helps increase awareness about handcrafted jewellery and designer wear products to a wider audience," a CCIC spokesperson said.

Also featured in the show are designs by mother-daughter duo Sonia and Meher Jetleey, that combine Indian sensibilities with modern trends to curate apparels like parachute dresses and dhoti style tunics.

The exhibition is set to continue till August 20.
