Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis while addressing the valedictory function of State Lawyers' Conference of Bar Council of Maharashtra and Goa revealed that a piece of land on Wardha road near Cricket Stadium in Jamatha has been shortlisted for the proposed school.
Fadnavis assured an august gathering to fast track the process to avoid further delay in starting the Law School here yesterday.
Talking about the importance of legal education, Fadnavis himself a Law graduate stated that having a law academic background immensely helped him in decision-making.
Fadnavis also announced that the government will revamp the allowances allocated to witnesses.
"In the last four years, witnesses have not been allotted allowances and this is a very disturbing fact. I have decided to formulate a new policy for witness protection and will ensure that the pending amounts are paid to them," he said.
Responding to the demands put forth by the Nagpur District Bar Association (DBA) regarding infrastructural changes and stipend for junior advocates, Fadnavis said that he would soon convene a meeting with the Law and Judiciary department and sort out the matters in six months.
"The budding lawyers must be given stipend for at least initial two-to-three years," he said.
