Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today refused to be drawn into the controversy over Aamir Khan's remarks on rising intolerance even as the ruling alliance partner Shiv Sena has hit out at the superstar.
Asked for a comment, Fadnavis, speaking to reporters in Solapur, said, "Our work is not just giving reaction to what someone said so that you (media) can run that news throughout the day.
"We have much more important work on hand and for us development of the state is priority," he said.
The 50-year-old actor in an interaction at the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism awards ceremony on Monday had said, "Kiran (his wife) and I have lived all our life in India. For the first time, she said, should we move out of India ... She fears for her child, she fears about what the atmosphere around us will be."
However, Shiv Sena compared the actor's remark to that of a treachery.
"Speaking of leaving the country is a language of treachery," the saffron party today said in an editorial in its mouthpiece 'Saamana'.
