Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today inaugurated the new building of Gevrai Municipal Council in Beed district.
The district, part of Marathwada, was recently hit by heavy rains after suffering a near-dry monsoon last year.
Fadnavis also launched a water supply scheme for Gevrai town. Rural Development Minister Pankaja Munde and BJP MP Pritam Munde too were present.
He praised the Gevrai Municipal Council for its "outstanding contribution" to Swachh Bharat campaign.
Bringing water to villages was important but what was more important was proper distribution mechanism for that water, Fadnavis said.
He said integrated development includes solid-liquid waste management and cleanliness.
Fadnavis also dedicated Sina Mehkari lift irrigation scheme at Ashti town and performed Bhumipujan for a road in Ashti tehsil under Mukhyamantri Gram Sadak Yojna.
The government is committed to provide water to Marathwada as it was the people's right and the government will meet this target in four years, he said.
"We're also committed to provide water and power connection to every farmer. We've planned 25,000 wells and equal number of farm ponds here," he added.
He praised the district officials for execution of his government's flagship scheme 'JalYukt Shivar' (water conservation) and noted that despite heavy rains, all 1200 cement nullah bunds constructed in Beed were safe.
