Fair price shop workers demand action against councillor

: A group of Government Fair Price shop workers today staged a demonstration here, demanding immediate action against a ward councillor, who was allegedly behind the attempted commit suicide by a colleague here yesterday.
One K Shaktivel, working at a fair prices shop of Singanallur Cooperative Society, had attempted suicide by consuming sleeping pills and was admitted to a government hospital here yesterday.
A note purportedly written by him and found in his pocket alleged that the councillor was the reason behind him taking the extreme step of attempting to end his life.
The agitators demanded stringent action against the councillor. They also submitted a memorandum to the district collector, Archana Patnaik in this regard, police said.

Meanwhile, police are waiting to take the version of Shaktivel, who is recovering in the hospital.
