The police today claimed to have busted a fake job racket and arrested six persons on charges of misleading unemployed youths with false promises.
The racket was running from a house at Kolathia under Khandagiri police limits here, police said.
"The police have also seized 75 passports, visiting cards of different tours and travel agencies, 200 application forms with biodata and photographs, PAN cards, voter identity cards and Aadhaar cards from their possession," said commissioner of police Y B Khurania.
A police team raided the house at Kolathia area following a tip-off from a local resident that an agency had arranged for an interview at a guest house at Kolathia. About 250-300 youths were attending the interview, sources said.
The agency used to dupe job aspirants by luring them with attractive offers from Gulf countries.
The racket had engaged local youths from Odisha to trap job seekers.
They used to conduct fake placement drives across the country and collect Rs 40,000-50,000 from each aspirant on the pretext of providing them jobs abroad, police said.
