Based on complaints by the public that policemen were involved in cheating and robbing valuables, city police commissioner A K Vishwanathan had formed special teams to find out the truth, police said.
As part of investigation, police stopped a car for checking in Selvapuram and seeing police, one person managed to escape from it in the early hours, they said.
Police nabbed three persons sitting inside the car and recovered two pairs of khaki uniforms from the vehicle.
Preliminary inquiry revealed that they said to have confessed that in police uniforms, they used to relieve the people of their valuables at lonely places.
