Farmer, cow charred to death

A farmer and a cow were charred to death in a lightning strike at different places in the district, police today said.
Police said there was heavy rain in Thalawady and surrounding forests on Tuesday night and Wednesday.
A 55-year-old farmer was struck dead by lightning on Tuesday while he was walking along the road.
On Wednesday, a cow was struck dead by lightning near Thalawady.
Four trees were also damaged.
