Deputy Director in Agriculture department Dr Virendra Kumar said that farmer Phool Singh in Rampur village has grown beetroots each weighing up to four kgs which is eight times more in weight as compared to the vegetable grown in other parts of Uttar Pradesh.
Usually the weight of a beetroot does not exceed 250 gms, he said, adding, its size matches with pumpkins.
"I had sowed the vegetable in December last year and now I have started plucking it," Phool Singh said.
