The man, identified as Harinder, was a local farmer.
Villagers found his body hanging from the tree and informed the police, which pulled the body down and sent for post mortem.
Some injury marks were found around his neck and also the victim's relatives claimed that it was not suicide but a murder.
Police suspect that old enmity may be the reason behind the murder, but also probing on both suicide or murder angle.
