There have been 100 suicides between January to June 2016 against 184 in the same period last year, said Rajesh Khawle, project director of a campaign implemented in the district to curb suicides.
Collector Sachindra Pratap Singh said it was the effect of the 'Balirja Chetana Abhiyan'.
This campaign was being run in Yavatmal and Osmanabad districts on pilot basis with the objective of making them suicide-free within two years, as announced by the Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, he said.
