Farmers from Hathnoora, Sangareddy, Kandi and Pulkal mandals of Sangareddy district took part in the protest saying they were not being paid proper compensation although their agriculture lands are being used for the purpose of laying of high-tension electricity lines.
The cultivators demanded that they should be paid compensation as per the government orders.
Irate farmers carried pesticide bottles and threatened to commit suicide if their demand was not met.
The farmers later met District Revenue Officer (DRO) U Raghu Ram Sharma and submitted to him their memorandum of demand. He assured them that the issue would be resolved soon.
