Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today directed officials to ensure distribution of cheque books under 'Rythu Bandhu' crop investment support scheme, to all farmers and also 'pattadar' (title-holder) passbooks by June 2.
"The CM said that whatever might be the problems, they should be overcome and by the time the new registration policy comes into effect on June 2, 2018, the distribution of pass books and cheque books shall be completed, come what may," a release from the chief minister's office said.
June 2 is Telangana Formation Day.
Those who could not attend the cheque and passbooks distribution programme in their villages can obtain their cheque and passbooks from the Tahsildar office concerned, the statement said.
Under the 'Rythu Bandhu' (friend of farmer) scheme that was launched earlier this month, an annual sum of Rs 8,000 per acre was provided to the farmers.
Along with the cheque book, farmers were also given the passbooks.
The chief minister has convened a meeting with ministers and district Collectors tomorrow to take stock of the progress of the 'Rythu Bandhu' scheme and to formulate a strategy for distributing passbooks and cheques to those who were yet to get them, it said.
The meeting would also discuss other welfare schemes, including a new farmers' insurance scheme, 'Kanti Velugu', a scheme to conduct eye-testing camps for all, state formation day celebrations and panchayat raj elections, the statement said.
Another statement from the chief minister's office said the government has sanctioned new medical colleges at Nalgonda and Suryapet, in response to a proposal from the medical and health department.
