Female elephant carcass found

The carcass of a female elephant was found today near the Hirabari area in Jalpaiguri district, forest department officials said.
The carcass was first spotted by the residents of Mantadari locality and primary investigations revealed that the elephant might have died after a cardiac arrest, said Dharmadev Rai, DFO, Baikunthapur Forest Division.
The elephant seems to be around 40-years-old and the carcass has been sent for post mortem, the DFO added.
