According to forest officials the villagers of Earimoolai forest settlement area had noticed the female elephant lying dead yesterday and informed the forest personnel who rushed to spot with a veterinary doctor.
The doctor who examined it said it had died of some illness and no foul play was suspected.
Later, the elephant was buried in the same area.
