FIDE rating chess tourney in Mumbai from May 8

Top International Masters are expected to take part in the ICS International Open FIDE Rating chess tournament to be held here from May 8-16.
The nine-day meet will be organised at Thakur College of Science and Commerce in suburban Kandivali and will offer Rs 3 lakh as prize money.
The event is a nine-round Swiss League affair with the classical three time controls used at the World Championship and is open only for players who are FIDE-rated, said Indian Chess School founder and FIDE Instructor Praful Zaveri.
"The time control for each game shall be 120 minutes for the first 40 moves, 60 minutes for the next 20 moves and then 15 minutes for the rest of the game plus and additional increment of 30 seconds per move starting from move sixty one," Zaveri said.
"We expect several top IMs to take part. We have received entries from Aditya Udeshi (ELO rating 2455), Sameet Katmale (2356), Vikramaditya Kamble (2420) and FM A Thakur," he added.
The winner will get Rs 75,000, while the runner-up Rs 50,000. In all, there are 39 prizes in cash and 24 prizes in the form of trophies.
The tournament is being organised under the aegis of the All India Chess Federation, Maharashtra Chess Association and Mumbai Suburban Chess Association.
