"The decision of the Raghuvar Das government is a step in right direction as it will not only help promote the artists, film-makers but also support the art and culture and languages of the state", Ramesh Hansda, President of the All India Santali Film Association (AISFA), said.
Regional filmmakers can now get 50 per cent grant for producing regional films following a Cabinet approval to a proposal for setting up a state film corporation, he said.
Renowned producer-actor of Santali Filmdom, Dasrath Hansda said the decision of Jharkhand government was a welcome step but its proper implementation was more important.
"I am confident that regional films can do much better if JFDC is implemented properly and within a timeframe", Dasrath told PTI.
Director of Pt. Raghunath Academy of Santali Cinema and Art (RASCA), Surya Singh Besra said the budget for producing regional films including Santali film was a major issue before the fund starved film makers but the government approval to set up JRDC would help address the issue to a great extent.
"75 per cent rebate in the entertainment tax will be given for shooting regional film in the state and 50 per cent and 25 per cent aid will also be given to the films made in regional languages and Hindi and other languages respectively, Hansda said.
