An FIR was today registered against Asaduddin Owaisi, the chief All India Majlis-e- Ittehadul Muslimeen, and another person for allegedly promoting "enmity" between different groups.
City in-charge of Hindu Yuva Vahini, Ram Bhual Kushwaha, filed the complaint against Owaisi and one Mohammed Sultan for allegedly posting objectionable picture of BJP MP Yogi Adityanath on a social networking site.
The case was registered on the basis of the complaint filed at Rajghat police station.
The FIR was lodged under section 153(A) of IPC (promoting enmity between different groups on grounds of religion, race, place of birth, residence, language, etc, and doing acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony) and section 66 A of IT Act.
The outfit, Hindu Yuva Vahini, was floated by Adityanath.
The complainant alleged that a picture of Adityanath was distorted, made objectionable and posted on "I Support Asaduddin Owaisi" page of social networking site on May 20.
He said that the post was shared by Mohd Sultan last night.

On being asked that the Owaisi's name was mentioned in the copy of the FIR available with the media, he said it might have happened due to clerical mistake.
Though no changes were made in the FIR till now.
