Fire mishaps in Chennai, none injured

A series of fire accidents in various parts of the city today sent authorities into a tizzy, however, no casualty was reported in the mishaps.
A short circuit in a storeroom in the premises of the Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Hospital here triggered a fire at around 7.30 pm but no one was injured in the mishap.
Seven fire attenders from various fire stations across the city were engaged and put out the fire after 40 minutes, an official said.
When contacted, a hospital spokesperson said initial investigation revealed that the fire occurred in a storeroom of an adjacent building located in the premises of the hospital and there was no danger to patients nor to hospital employees.
He said a detailed probe was on.
Earlier, a fire broke out at the Madras High Court complex. The blaze, suspected to have been caused due to an electrical short circuit, broke out in a room meant for advocates but no one was injured, police said.
Fire tenders put out the fire, they added.
Meanwhile, there was an electric spark near the Immigration area in the international terminal at the airport here, officials said.
However, no one was injured in the incident and officials were quick in rectifying the issue, they added.
