Promising a melange of mouth-watering fare and nail-biting challenges, India's first online reality show for cooking will start from tomorrow on video sharing site YouTube.
The culinary competition 'Famebox WebChef' will kick off with a challenge to five shortlisted contestants to finish a three course meal in 90 minutes.
After 8 weeks of creating dishes, uploading videos and vying for views and likes, the top five qualifiers were shortlisted based on the creativity of the dishes, screen presence, popularity of videos as well as scores attributed by renowned food connoisseur Vir Sanghvi.
Viewers will get a chance to catch the five finalists compete in gruelling challenges set by Sanghvi and the head-chefs of ITC Chola as they vie to take on the title of India's first WebChef.
"Today food is the new mantra on the web. With people sharing images and videos of food on applications such as Instagram, we have seen a new trend emerging. FameBox is an extension of this providing a platform to discover the hidden talent of individuals who can not only cook but also engage their audience at multiple levels," said Dhruvank Vaidya, Business Head of FameBox.
After a close call and bidding an early adieu to two contestants, the challenge will only get progressively tougher.
From an open pantry to a box of ingredients, the next webisode will tighten the competition with the next challenge - special ingredient.
The finalists will be put to the ultimate test when they are challenged to emulate their mentors by exactly recreating a dish created by the expert head chefs at ITC Chola.
