Five arrested for attempting to smuggle tobacco to Sri Lanka

Five persons were arrested today at Pamban here for attempting to smuggle tobacco worth about Rs five lakh to Sri Lanka, police said.
Following a tip off, police rushed to Pamban sea shore and searched a country boat, where 300 kg of tobacco was found and arrested five persons in it, police said.
Police also seized the country boat and a car belonging to them.
