Sukhwinder Singh, a resident of Cheema village, complained to police that Rajinder Kumar, his son Ajay Kumar and his aide Makhan Singh have taken Rs 5.35 lakh from him on the promise of settling him in Australia, SSP Mandeep Singh Sidhu said.
However, later, nothing was done in the matter by the accused.
A case has been registered in this regard while efforts are on to nab the absconding accused.
Jasvir Kaur, the victim, had provided the couple, identified as Mandip Kaur and Jaspal Singh, the money to generate documents for her travel to Canada.
Later, failed to get any response from them, the woman lodged a complaint with police against them.
A case has been registered against them while the further probes are on, police added.
