The Opposition parties in Meghalaya will highlight issues like deteriorating law and order, voting rights of non-tribals in tribal councils and alleged encroachment of the state government in scheduled areas under the jurisdiction of autonomous district councils, during the five-day Assembly session beginning tomorrow.
According to a release from the Assembly, the five-day Autumn Session of the Meghalaya Assembly would begin from Wednesday with three days earmarked for the government and two for Private Members' business.
United Democratic Party leader Paul Lyngdoh said the government has to come clear on issues concerning the people such as the voting rights of non-tribals in the autonomous district councils, which were formed to protect the interests of tribal communities in the state.
