Five Sri Lankan Tamil refugees were arrested here while awaiting a ferry reportedly for illegally travelling to the neighbouring country, officials said today.
A Lankan Tamil refugee lodged at the Mandapam camp near here had assured the other four refugees from Bhavanisagar camp near Coimbatore that they would be sent to Sri Lanka, officials added.
All of them were arrested by a police patrol team which questioned them while they were waiting under the Pamban bridge here late last night for a ferry.
