Five panchayats under Plamu Development Plan

Five panchayats under Maoist-hit Manatu police station of Palamau district will be linked to development program under Palamau Development Act Plan.
"We have identified five of the seven panchayats under Manatu police station, which was the worst hit in the naxal-hit Palamau district, and development works will be commenced soon," Deputy Commissioner K Srinivasan said today.
Development would be done in education, health, road and other sectors at a cost of Rs 100 crore in the current fiscal.
Srinivasan said the five identified panchayats comprising 6193 families and having population of 32,926 including 7704 Schedule Tribe people and 10,468 Schedule Caste men and women.
While the literacy rate of these panchayat was 35.7 per cent, the sex ratio is 930 per 1000 male.
The panchayats have four each of Primary health Centres and a high school and 3855 MANREGA Job card holder, he said.
Under the development action plan, Srinivasan said the district administration proposed to set up five new primary health centres, one Eklabya Model School, construction of five roads.
"We have already acquired 12 acres of land for the proposed Model school, which will be established at a cost of Rs 12 crores, of which six crores have been procured," he said.
"The five roads of total 17 kms will be constructed at a cost of Rs 17 crore," he said adding that the panchayats identified for it were Chak, Nawdiha, Rangia, Dumri and Bansipur.
Besides, the administration have formed 71 of the proposed 273 women self-help groups and 14 public distribution system shops to be managed by them, he said.
The administration also disbursed Rs 6300 each among the SHG already formed, he said.
The administration also appointed 17 teachers for primary and middle schools, having 50 teachers so far, to improve the education system in these panchayats, Srinivasan added.
