Five 'kanwariya' pilgrims were killed and seven others injured when a truck overturned on them near a petrol pump in this district today.
The incident occurred when a truck lost control after its front tyre burst and overturned on the pilgrims sitting on the roadside, a police official said.
The pilgrims were returning home in West Champaran district after offering holy water to Lord Shiva at Deoghar in Jharkhand, he said.
All the injured were hospitalised.
The truck drive fled from the spot, he said.
