According to police, the blast occurred near a police mobile in Sardheri Bazar area of Charsadda that killed six persons.
Six others including two policemen were also injured in the explosion.
Initial investigation said that militants had fixed explosives in a bicycle that went off when the police mobile crossed the area. The police officers were on their way to provide security to a polio team.
Meanwhile, security forces reached the spot and cordoned off the area and started investigation.
Four anti-polio workers were yesterday killed in attacks carried out in various parts of Pakistan including two women in Karachi who were carrying out the vaccination programme.
