Five sentenced to death for drug trafficking in China

Five persons were sentenced to death and two others to death with a reprieve by a Chinese court for drug trafficking in Hunan Province.
Another 14 convicts received sentences ranging from one year in prison to life imprisonment.
The case involved trafficking of more than 222 kilograms of "magu" pills, a stimulant composed of methamphetamine and caffeine.
China has launched a nationwide campaign to ban drugs in hundreds of cities since October. PTI KJV.
