Flash floods: Toll rises to eight

The toll in the flash floods as heavy rains lashed the hills here has risen to eight as four more bodies were recovered at various ponds in the area, police said today.
The bodies of four boys were recovered yesterday in the mishap following flash floods due to a sudden cloud burst.
A powerful torrent of water had gushed into a pond atop the hill, sweeping away the boys, who were swimming in one of them, to a lower pond from a height of 500 feet.
Police said three more bodies were retrieved from the waters of a lower pond late last night while another was found in the pond atop the hill this morning.

The victims, all students, were aged between 14 to 20 years, police said.
