A Qantas flight from Dallas to Sydney was diverted to Los Angeles International Airport after a passenger had a medical emergency.
Airport spokeswoman Nancy Castles says the Airbus 380 landed in Los Angeles shortly after 1 am today (0230 IST).
She says the Fire Department transported the sick passenger to a hospital for treatment. The nature of the illness was not disclosed.
Castles says the remaining 180 passengers on Flight QF8 were put up by the airline in local hotels.
The flight is scheduled to depart again for Australia at 9:05 pm (1035 IST).
