A florist who allegedly killed his 12-year-old nephew and made an attempt to murder his wife over money matters on the Diwali day has been arrested, police said today.
Kisan Bhaiji Surela, a resident of Chole village near here, was nabbed late last evening, Senior Inspector S B Shivarkar of Dombivili Police Station said.
The 35-year-old had made good money during Diwali and kept it in his house. On October 23 night, he realised that a sum of Rs 2,000 was missing and suspected that his wife Anita (28) and nephew Rohit Suresh Jakhwadia had taken the money.
An enraged Surela severely thrashed the duo, as a result the boy died on the spot while his wife was badly injured, Shivarkar said.
The woman has been admitted to KEM Hospital, where her condition is said to be critical, he said.
Surela has been booked under IPC Sections 302 (murder) and 307 (attempt to murder).
