Fodder scam:Restoration of conspiracy charge grave: Lawyer

The restoration of criminal conspiracy charge by the Supreme Court in a fodder scam case involving RJD supremo Lalu Prasad "is graver" than the case in which he has already been convicted, a senior advocate who appeared for the CBI, said today.
Senior advocate Aman Sinha, who appeared along with Solicitor General Ranjit Kumar, for the agency said "the criminal conspiracy charge is graver than what Lalu Prasad has been convicted of earlier."
Sinha, also a BJP national spokesperson, hailed the verdict which allowed the CBI appeal by ordering that separate trial shall be carried out in each of the cases within a time bound period of nine months.
Out of 64 cases arising from the scam, Yadav was named accused in six cases cases and he has already been convicted in one of the case involving fraudulant withdrawal of Rs 37.70 crore from Chaibasa treasury which now falls in Jharkhand between period April 1, 1994 to January 31, 1995.
The apex court today set aside the order of Jharkhand High Court discharging Yadav, in the case pertaining to Deoghar treasury, where amount to the tune of Rs 85 lakh was misappropriated with the help of 250 vouchers and 17 fake allotment letters between period 1991 to 1994 and directed the trial court to conclude the proceedings in nine months from today.
