The body of a 52-year-old forest guard at Dudhwa National Park was found from a sugarcane field here Saturday, the police said.
Sukhpal Singh was posted at Jatpura beat of Mailani range under the Dudhwa buffer zone and had left his home on Friday but did not return, they said.
His blood-stained body with sharp injury marks was recovered near Subhanpur village. His official rifle was found nearby, they said.
A first information report (FIR) was lodged by Vijay Singh, the son of the deceased against unidentified assailants alleging that his father had left home to discharge his duties but did not come back.
Kheri Superintendent of Police Ramlal Verma said investigations were underway.
