An organisation set up by former Maharashtra DGP Arvind Inamdar will honour three retired police personnel, to be chosen from IPS to Constable ranks, every year to recognise their exemplary work and contribution to the force.
The organisation, 'Arvind Inamdar Foundation', also announced the names of three retired police officers who will be felicitated this year.
The Foundation will be honouring three retired police personnel, who have have done exemplary work in their career, with Police Jeevan Gaurav Puraskar every year, Inamdar said at a press conference here.
The award winners, who will also get cash prizes, will be selected from IPS to Constable ranks, he said, adding they will be felicitated every year in different cities of the State.
"Post retirement no one remembers the officers and they don't get any recognition regardless of the good work they have done in their professional life."
The Foundation this year has selected three officers - former DGP Suryakant Jog, ex-Assistant Commissioner Sam Patel and Assistant Inspector Dilip Patil - for the award, he said.
Besides citation and certificates, the three cops will get cash prizes - Rs 1.25 lakh (first winner), Rs 1.11 lakh (second) and Rs 1.01 lakh (third), added Inamdar.
This year's function will be held on December 23 at Swantanra Veer Sawarkar Smarak Sabhagruha in Dadar, where noted industrialist Ratan Tata will present the award, said Inamdar, who was accompanied by DCP (Detection) Dhananjay Kulkarni at the press meet.
Current State DGP Pravin Dixit and Mumbai Police Commissioner Ahmed Javed will also attend the event.
