Healthcare provider Fortis Healthcare today inked pact with the Uttar Pradesh government to set up four hospitals in the state adding 1,100 new beds.
"Fortis Healthcare Limited today signed an Memorandum of Understanding with the Government of Uttar Pradesh to set up two super speciality and two multi-speciality hospitals aggregating 1,100 beds, in the cities of Lucknow, Kanpur, Allahabad and Greater Noida," a Fortis spokesperson said.
The hospitals will provide the local population with access to quality healthcare and potentially generate over 6,500 direct and indirect jobs in the state, he added.
In the last financial year the company added approximately 800 hospital beds to its installed base from the launch of two new facilities in Gurgaon (Haryana) and Ludhiana (Punjab).
Currently, the company operates its healthcare delivery services in India, Singapore, Dubai, Mauritius and Sri Lanka with 66 healthcare facilities (including projects under development), over 10,000 potential beds and approximately 280 diagnostic centres.
Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh government today received initial investment commitments of Rs 60,000 crore from companies, including Reliance Jio, Fortis and ITC, in areas ranging from agriculture to telecommunications.
"The investors have shown interest. The UP Conclave has been a success. MoUs worth more than Rs 60,000 crore have been signed today. The government will continuously follow these investors, cooperate with them and resolve their matters," Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said.
Subhash Chandra-led Essel Group signed the initial pact with the state government to invest Rs 20,000 crore in areas like urban development and power distribution and Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Jio pledged Rs 5,000 crore outlay for implementation of 4G network.
