Four people are trapped in an expressway tunnel in China's southern Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region after it was inundated by mud, local officials said today.
The inrush happened yesterday in a tunnel which was under construction on an expressway linking the cities of Hechi and Baise.
Five workers were cleaning the tunnel and maintaining the equipment at the site. One person managed to escape while four persons are still trapped.
More than 90 metres of the tunnel has been filled by 10,000 cubic metres of mud.
The rescue operation is underway, state-run Xinhua news agency reported.
