The incident took place this evening when six children in Chelpur village of Mulugu Ghanpur mandal went for swimming in a tank, an officer at Mulugu Ghanpur Police Station said.
All the six children entered into the deep waters but four of them, who did not know swimming, drowned inside the tank, the officer said.
The two children who could swim, traversed out and alerted villagers about the incident.
Locals tried to save the children but all of them had died by the time they could be rescued.
The bodies were fished out of the tank and sent to Mulugu hospital for post-mortem, police said.
